PATHOLOGY

Sinusitis

The paranasal sinuses are small spaces inside the nose that produce mucus to prevent the nose from drying out during breathing. Sinusitis is an inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, which can be caused by viral or bacterial infections or obstruction due to the abnormal growth of the sinuses (nasal polyps), preventing normal mucus drainage. Currently, there is no standard treatment for sinusitis, and long-term use of corticosteroids and antibiotics can lead to numerous side effects. The use of laser therapy has been studied and suggested for its noninvasive and highly effective method.
