Healing

Healing is a complex biological process through which the body regenerates and repairs damaged tissues because of wounds or injuries. Photobiomodulation (PBM), also known as low-level light therapy, has proven to be highly beneficial in the healing process. This therapeutic approach involves the application of light, typically laser or LED light, to the affected area, stimulating cellular mitochondria.

Benefits of PBM

• Enhances the metabolic efficiency of cells by activating cellular mitochondria, thereby increasing the generation of ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
• Reduces inflammation by diminishing the inflammatory response in the early stages of healing, which is beneficial for pain management and expediting the recovery process.
• Increases blood flow in the affected area, facilitating the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to cells, as well as the removal of waste products.
• Stimulates collagen synthesis, an essential protein for maintaining the structural integrity of connective tissue and facilitating scar formation.
• Exhibits analgesic effects by modulating nerve activity and reducing the release of pro-inflammatory substances.
• Improves skin elasticity in the scar area by promoting collagen synthesis and other components of connective tissue.
• Decreases edema (swelling) by enhancing circulation and reducing the inflammatory response.
• Non-invasive and safe treatment, making it an appealing option for enhancing healing without side effects.
