PATHOLOGY

Alopecia

Alopecia is the total or partial loss of hair. Alopecia affects both men and women. Different types of alopecia have different origins and causes; therefore, they manifest in different ways in each person; however, they can be classified into scarring alopecia and non-scarring alopecia. The former results from irreversible follicular damage and generally also skin damage.

Non-scarring alopecia affects exclusively the hair follicle and does not leave residual atrophy, therefore, except for androgenetic alopecia, it will be potentially recoverable. Treatment will vary depending on the clinical form in question. In any case, it is advisable to start with the least aggressive therapeutic measures.
